The Maine Morgan Horse Club, Inc. is continuing to encourage excellence in youth by providing a memorial scholarship each year to an outstanding young man or woman who will be or is already attending a post high school program.

Applicants are being accepted for the 2006 scholarship (printable version)Deadline is December 31, 2006.

The following parameters are guidelines on which the scholarship will be granted:

  1. At least one $500 scholarship will be available annually.

  2. The scholarship will be paid directly to a college or university, trade school or vocational training program within two years after the award of the scholarship. Upon receipt of the award (at our annual Awards Banquet), a written request from the recipient must be made for payment to the designated school.

  3. The program is open to any young man or woman (under 22 years old) who is/will be a high school graduate/GED and is a member in good standing of the Maine Morgan Horse Club, Inc.

  4. The following criteria will be considered important as part of the selection criteria: the applicant's involvement in the AMHA Horsemastership program or the 4H/FFA program.

  5. Selection will be based on the applicant's ability and aptitude for a serious study, community service, leadership, financial needs and achievement with horses.

  6. Previous winners of this scholarship are ineligible to participate a second time. Previous applicants who did not win the scholarship may re-apply.

  7. Applications and three (3) reference letters relative to applicant's character, abilities and achievement, with a copy of their most recent transcript from high school and/or school in attendance at the time of application must be postmarked no later than November 15, 2005 and sent to the Scholarship chair.

  8. If, in the opinion of the Scholarship Committee, no applicants meet the standards as set by the Committee, the scholarship funds will be held within the Maine Morgan Horse Club, Inc. scholarship account until such applicant is found.
